Be the celebrity guest wearing silk at wedding

Ola mi amigos. Hello my friends.

"A wedding coming soon and I haven't chosen my attire yet!! Also  I have nothing classy in my wardrobe, what should I wear now? OMG!!! Can anyone help me please!!!!????"

Is this exactly what are you thinking? Or what you usually think before any wedding?
Trust me, this is not only you. In fact all the ladies in the planet must go trough such situation every time they have a wedding to attend. Don't worry. No more hustle and bustle, just stay along with wedding lantern's latest post.

In my previous post I discussed about silk as a bridal attire. If you haven't read it yet, click here to read.
In this post as well, I will be discussing about some of the fashionable silk attires but for the guests in the wedding.

As I mentioned earlier in my previous post, silk is not only a traditional attire but also very traditional, chic and very modern at the same time. Previously in this region, silk was used as a rich garments for the Mughals and elite people. It used to have restricted patterns and designs on it. Later, in modern days, silk is being made with different motifs and designs. They have become more beautiful than previous silks attires. You can find silk with heavy work, with geometric pattern, hand painted designs and many more. So, lets look at some of the silk attires that totally blew my mind and I'm sure it will blow yours too.

1. Plain Soft silk

Plain silk sarees are the jewel of your wardrobe. Silk itself is very elegant and dainty. Also by incorporating some contrast colors, it becomes the most beautiful attire. However, the benefit of having a plain silk saree is it gives you freedom to add different colors on it by choosing a contrast blouse. Wear a plain contrast silk blouse or a blouse full of heavy embroideries and sequins on it; that will transforms a plain dress into a master piece like the pictures above. Even with minimal of jewelries it can make you look absolutely stunning. It doesn't require any professional hand to make a masterpiece like this. There are so many shops available at Priyangon in New market who make quality embroideries. Lastly, choosing a cotton blouse for a silk saree would be a mistake. So, my  personal tip would be, choose a silk or a brocade blouse for your silk saree. They will go beautifully with your silk attire. You will get silk fabric in Sapura silk at Dhanmandi 3. They have a vast collection of Rajshahi silk fabric.

2. Hand painted silk

Hand paint silk sarees are one of the modern additions in silk. Now a days, specially Bangladeshi boutique houses like, Aarong K-craft, Bibiyana, Banglar Mela, Rong and many other boutique houses have a vast collection of hand painted silk sarees. Among them you can have a visit to Aarong, Rong and K-craft particularly which have quite a good collection. I went to Banani outlet of Banglar Mela that has only 3-4 pieces of nice hand painted silk sarees but all of them were on half silk which is a little rough in it's texture. Compared  to them, I prefer Aarong (for it's modern design), Rong (for it's color combination) and K-craft (for it's simple design and bright colors). If you have any other choices please do not hesitate to share with us.

3. Geometric design in silk

Well, I am personally in love with these geometric patterned sarees. They are absolutely artistic and very modern. Their artistic designs make you look very attractive. Add some of the geometric pattered jewelries like above. Trust me, you would be the point of all spotlights.

I went to several local shops and boutique houses in Dhaka to find similar sarees. After searching in many of the renowned boutique houses including some of their brunches within Dhaka, I found out that, only Aarong has a few collection of them. Other than Aarong, there are also a few small shops near Aliance Françase around Dhanmadi 3 (beside the main road) who sell only silk attires. I should mention that if you go for any printed silk saree, they are the best so far. So, have a look around.

4. Hand embroidered silk sarees

Hand embroidered sarees are one of the expensive pieces in all silk sarees. Aarong has the vast and beautiful collection of hand embroidered silk sarees which are very expensive but very delicate. Kantha embroidery has been the traditional hand embroidery work of Bengal. The specialty of this embroidery is, it portraits regular life images with threads on clothes. Aarong took this tradition to a different angle by making fusion of tradition in modern attires.

There are some other boutique houses also who have a few collections of hand embroidered silk sarees. Bibiana, K-craft, Banglar mela, Rong and etc. also have a good collection of silk sarees with hand embroidery. They incorporated hand embroideries and sequined work together.

Here is another sample of silk saree that has heavy Kantha hand embroidery in the whole saree. Who wouldn't want to have it in her closet?

5. Katan silk saree

If you want to go totally traditional, so Katan silk sarees are no compared to anything. They are very classy and very elegant.  Specially if you are the bride's maid of honor then you must get a Katan silk saree. They are available not only in boutique houses but also in Mirpur Banarasi Palli which is particularly known for  it's best collection of them.

6. Mix and match
One of the very recent trend in fashion is "mix and match" with different pattern, fabric and colors of course. In this trend I would appreciate Andeem for their best collections so far. They are the first local boutique shops who brought this modern trend in Bengali fashion. I personally name them as the king of the "mix and match" sarees in the country. In their collections you will find both modernity and artistic touch. I love the way they play with colors and all their collections are so bold and beautiful. If you haven't checked them yet, trust me it's a great miss.
And by mix and match I mean, those sarees that have multiple fabrics, designs and pop up of many different colors within it. You can also guess by the picture above. Although, Andeem's dresses are a little costly but if it's a masterpiece; you won't regret having one of them in your closet.

So, here are my chosen collection so far. Do you like it? If you do or even if you don't please do let me know in the comments bellow. I would be glad to hear from you. Also, if you have more to share with me or others please do not hesitate. We are hear to listen to you.

So, I'll catch you up in my next post and till then,
Bye
